Painting is Finished

It is finally finished......to recap.....I had to take 3 historical works of art and combine an element from each of them together. (Renior - the Umberellas, Jack Vettriano - woman with the sunglasses, and another female artist, but can't remember her name, but her piece is called "The Burial" - the crouching man).  I also had to take modern images (like the pig, fish, girl holding the rod, and the tree) into the picture somehow.....this is what I came up with and I LOVE it.

I used bubble rap, collaged assorted paper (background), white paper roses, stamps, wax crayon (umbrellas and melting colors), and scrapbooking paper...oh, yes and my imagination!  Tell me what you think!!

FINAL Painting....In Progress!!!

My FINAL painting project.... it is suppose to be different figures from different historical paintings put together with other modern images in a collage kind of composition.  Painted with acrylic on panel board (4' x 3') so it is quite large...for me anyway.  This is in progress...stay tuned, more to come!

Art History - Western Prehistory through to the French Revolution

They seem really interesting, and the 2 art classes are my very last that is required for my B.A.  For my Painting class we need to create an art journal/sketchbook...oh, darn...I hate those things....he he he he!!!

Here is the inside cover and introductory pages.  I promise I'll have more to come, and I won't wait until the end of the semester to do it.

Photo Arts I - FINAL PROJECT

The Fall 2011 semester is finally over and here are the results of my efforts:

Photo Arts I = A
Sociology 1000 = A-
Computer Science 1000 = A-
Anthropology - Ancient Societies = B-
English Prose = B+
GPA = 3.59

Below are the pictures from my final project in my Photo Arts I class.  I LOVED this course and I hope your enjoy the many photos I took.

FINAL PROJECT ~

My final project idea was to combine the everyday world of ordinary people and objects that we sometimes take for granted.  I wanted my idea to mirror the theme of our scrapbooks that was assigned to everyone at the beginning of the class.  The scrapbooks were to include at least 2 news articles from any local newspaper each week, as well as our best pictures that we took and developed, and above all to find and include any "visual culture" that was all around us; objects that we may not regard as interesting or worthy of recognition.

My final project was to reflect the "visual culture" that we use, see and discard everyday.  People too whom we may see everyday, and pass on the street are also deemed as our "visual culture" that we take no thought or importance to...the world around us as part of our everyday.  I wanted to bring out the "everyday" into a different, noticable light of recognition and attention.  Even the picture frames themselves are different and that we see so often in every home.  I didn't, however, want the pictures or objects to be behind glass, thus to bring more attention to one than another.  Every picture and object are to work as a whole, not singled out as being more important than the other(s).

Sunday Tote Bag

I made this tote bag for my dear friend, Mandy, for her birthday last month.  She asked for one last year, but I finally had time to do it before Christmas.  She loved it...and I do too.

The pattern of the houses and the angel are from Nancy Halverson from "Art to Heart".  The angel is one big pocket, as well as the antique rose and the houses!

Victorian Doll

I made this doll for a Christmas gift.  I think the bonnet adds a touch of cuteness!  Enjoy the pics.
